Wheelchair Basketball

Join the nationally recognized Rockford Junior Chariots basketball team! In 2014, the Rockford Junior Chariots were NWBA Junior Division National Champions.

To qualify to play wheelchair basketball, you do not need to use a wheelchair for daily use. An athlete must have a permanent physical limitation of the lower limb that prevents them from being able to run, jump, or pivot with the same control and stability as a non-disabled athlete.

Wheelchair basketball helps an athlete develop self-esteem, teamwork, and physical development as well as providing opportunities for advancement in college and beyond.

Whether you are just beginning, or have been playing for years, we have the opportunity for you. The team practices at the β€œJr.Varsity” division standards level of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association. Weekend tournaments and games are offered throughout the season. The game schedule will be given out at practices. Season runs from October to April.

Pre-K through high school athletes are welcome! If interested, contact Shannon Schumacher at 815-987-1604 or e-mail ShannonSchumacher@rockfordparkdistrict.org.
