The final touches are being put on the beautiful new downtown UW Health Sports Factory.
A recent look inside the building, shows the courts are ready to go with volleyball nets and basketball hoops.
Signs, floors, doors, and more are going up around the rest of the building and even some of the outdoor riverwalk seating is in place.
On Wednesday, June 1, 2016, we will be hosting the Grand Opening Celebration, free and open to the public at 1:30 p.m.
The UW Health Sports Factory started out in 2011 as a dream. The building was part of a strategy to provide recreational facilities to meet citizen needs, and retain, regain, and grow the market as an amateur sports tourism destination.
Thanks to City of Rockford, Rockford Park District (RPD), Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (RACVB), and Winnebago County Regional Tourism Facility Board (WCTFB) working together, the dream turned into a big win for our region. We also wouldn't be where we are today without valuable contributions from SwedishAmerican and United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA).
This project was partially funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Join us as we celebrate the teamwork, and let the games begin!
PLEASE NOTE: For the safety of guests and to protect the new hardwood playing surfaces, only soft-soled or flat footwear is permitted, so please dress accordingly. Guests wearing hard-soled shoes or heels of less than 1" diameter will be asked to wear complimentary slippers.
PARKING is available in the upper lot at 305 S. Madison Street. Overflow parking is available around Ingersoll Centennial Park, 315 S. First Street.
